A Decade of Stories, A Lifetime of Creativity
A Decade of Stories, A Lifetime of Creativity
Fableware Newsletter #01/25
Uooou!*
*(If you’re wondering, that’s my signature greeting! Sounds just like "whoooa.")
Arthur Protasio here! Writer and director by trade; storyteller, founder, and CEO of Fableware by vision.
Can you believe it’s already been a decade since Fableware first set out on its storytelling journey in Brazil? In case we haven’t met yet: Fableware is the studio I started with the dream of bringing world-class storytelling to TV, games, film, and VR.
What followed has been a rewarding (and sometimes challenging) adventure, where we’ve collaborated with global icons, earned awards, and shared unforgettable stories across the world. Take a look at our three phases below!

This is just a highlight of some of the projects we’ve worked on since then, which includes:
- Three VR experiences, including Mickey Mouse and the Golden Heart with Disney
- Two action-adventure games for Sony Pictures and Netflix, based on Cobra Kai
- An original multiplayer PS5 game with Lucid Games (Destruction All Stars)
- An International Emmy-nominated TV series, Geração Brasil (Now Generation)
- An award-winning tactical RPG, Sword Legacy: Omen, published by Team17
Each project helped hone our craft, bringing us closer to our true purpose: telling our own stories. But it was last year that marked our turning point, the moment we knew it was time to leap into the future.
2024: Building Bridges, Preparing the Future
After a decade of honing our craft, 2024 became a year of transformation, the final step of Fableware's Phase 2. A time to deepen connections, refine our vision, and lay the foundation for what comes next. As part of our core values, we focused on bringing communities together, sharing what we’ve learned, and preparing for the stories we're about to tell.
Among several events, talks, and panels, here are some moments where we celebrated that journey and set the stage:

We showcased Fableware's evolution at two of the game industry's biggest conferences, GDC & Gamescom (San Francisco, USA, and Cologne, Germany), by organizing a panel featuring diverse Brazilian game developers with unique careers and life paths. Watch it below:
We shared insights on sustainable team growth and how to foster diverse creative talent at C-Tribe Festival in Edmonton, Canada:
I was invited to speak about my life's journey, career path, and Fableware's phases at the amazing Vancouver Game Dev Series which showcases indie talent in Vancouver, Canada. It was a pleasure to talk about Fableware's vision for arthouse story-driven games:
Last but not least, to strengthen bonds across continents and creative communities, Fableware worked with the Brazilian Consulate to organize a meetup for Brazilian Game Dev in Vancouver, Canada. This was a long-time coming collaboration for us because the Latin American identity is core to Fableware and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was the studio's birthplace. So, to further develop this connection between our heritage and expats, we got the community together.

As you can see, every event, panel, and conversation fueled our commitment to building meaningful, sustainable stories and the community that will shape them.
2025: The Beginning of Original Fables
Now, after ten years of collaborations and transformation, Fableware is stepping fully into Phase 3: creating and sharing our own original worlds.
At the heart of this new phase lies something we've been quietly weaving behind the scenes: The Fableware Manifesto.
- Meaningful Stories – We craft thought-provoking narratives that spark conversation and uncover deeper truths about ourselves and others.
- Personal Keepsakes – Every experience leaves something behind: a song, a tale, a painting, a memento uniquely shaped by your choices.
- Impactful Endings – We design each journey with depth, resolution, and emotional payoff—ensuring you reach a conclusion that stays with you.
- Diverse Voices – We spotlight stories shaped by underrepresented cultures, especially our Latin American roots, that deepen how we see the world.
- Sustainable Lives – We build our studio around people by prioritizing care, communication, and sustainable practices that support lasting creativity.
These are our values and our commitment — to ourselves, to our players, and to the stories we believe the world needs now more than ever.
